This is dimmed because no voice is selected on the pop-up menu. This lists element types and the voices assigned to them. To change the voice for an element type, click the type, then choose a voice from the pop-up menu. This lists the characters in the script and the voices assigned to them. To change the voice for a character, click the character’s name, then choose a voice from the pop-up menu. This shows the name of the voice assignments file associated with the script. If you click here, the voice assignments in this dialog will be saved to the voice assignments file, replacing any previous settings. If you click here, the dialog will go away without saving any changes you may have made to the voice assignments. Click here to change the name of the voice assignment file associated with the script. Often this will be the same as the name of the script. If you click here, you will see a dialog in which you can select a voice assignment file. The voice assignments will be copied into this dialog, replacing any previous settings, and the script will remember the name of the voice file. Click here to play a sample of the current voice. The sample is the same one that you will hear in the Speech control panel. This is the sex of the speaker, as determined by the designers of the voice. This is the approximate age of the speaker, as determined by the designers of the voice (probably Apple Computer). This pop-up menu shows the name of the voice that is assigned to the selected character or element type, and can be used to change the voice. If you click here, the voices will be cleared out of both lists.
